The Drawing Room is like a lounge area by the lobby of St. Regis Singapore.

St. Regis Singapore

To those who know me well, it’s no secret that St. Regis is one of my favourite places to go in Singapore.

I’ve blogged so much about this place, and have written reviews on:

And several others, including using St. Regis as a place to take my bags out (such as the Hermes Birkin or Mini Lady Dior).

Surprisingly, despite the multiple visits to St. Regis, I’ve never actually been in The Drawing Room to have a meal.

So the husband and I decided to drop by for a quick lunch.

The Drawing Room has a very comfortable setting.

Large comfortable couches surround coffee tables made of wood and glass.
In the middle lies a huge TWG display.

From this angle, can you tell that I’ve sunken into the couch?

American Express Love Dining

As usual, we are here partly because of the American Express Love Dining programme. It gives diners a 50% discount when two adults dine in.

There’s a number of American Express credit cards that provide Love Dining privileges. Namely, the Platinum Credit Card, the Platinum Reserve Credit Card, and the Platinum Charge card. My personal favourite is the Platinum Charge card (I’ve written about the list of benefits here), thanks to a whole host of other perks that it offers.

    The Drawing Room menu

As The Drawing Room appears more like a lounge rather than a full-fledged restaurant, the menu options are quite limited, but sufficient.

For those who are keen on using American Express Love Dining benefits, the criteria is that at least one MAIN dish per person must be ordered (e.g. if you have two adults, order two main dishes to get the 50% off the entire food bill).

At The Drawing Room, the qualifying mains are items under

    • Asian Main Courses – which has x3 items – Chicken Rice, Nasi Goreng, Penang Char Kuey Tiao
    • Sandwiches and Burgers – which has x2 items – a Club Sandwich and a Burger

In total, there are only FIVE main dish options here, so not much variety to choose from.

    But first, coffee.

So, our choice of carbohydrates is… Bread.

St. Regis Burger (left) and St. Regis Club Sandwich (right)

The ingredients in the St. Regis Club Sandwich was wholesome and packed with the best things a sandwich could offer: chicken breast, bacon, fried egg, lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise. All stacked between toasted sourdough bread pieces and served with fries.

Go for this if you want a GOOD old club sandwich.

And what better thing to complete a meal with other than fries? Served hot, those here looked like McDonalds’ fries, but are crispier and more well-fried than the McD counterparts (though at the St. Regis price point, they had better damn well be much better, lol).
And here’s the burger. There’s a Wagyu beef patty, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise, onion, gherkins (pickle) and cheddar cheese, nicely arranged with a sesame bun.

    St. Regis Burger

It’s an above average juicy burger, and the Wagyu has hints of tenderness here and there. Though i wouldn’t call it the Bery Best burger, it does the job of giving you good, satisfying burger vibes.

    Dessert

There is a display full of cakes at the entrance of The Drawing room. But dessert itself was not a piece of cake.

    Rather, it was a tart.

    Mont Blanc

Chestnut cream, folks, is severly underrated. Imagine a velvety and creamy swirl full of nutty overtones perched atop a buttery (or almond-y?) tart base. This was sooo good.

Almost too pretty to eat, but once we started, we couldn’t stop. The perfect sweet ending to an otherwise very savoury lunch.

AMEX love dining benefits (50% off)

As an holder of the American Express Platinum Charge Card, to enjoy Love Dining Benefits – there must be a minimum order of two qualifying mains for two adults. Qualifying mains included items in the ‘Asian Mains’ and  ‘Sandwiches and Burgers’, section.

In total, I received the following dining discounts:

    The Drawing Room

    • St. Regis Club Sandwich – $32.00
    • St. Regis Burger – $36.00
    • Mont Blanc – $8.00
    • Cafe Latte – $9.00

    – Subtotal: $85.00

    – Amex 50% discount = minus – $42.50

    – New Subtotal: $85.00– $42.50 = $42.50

    – 7% GST: $3.24

    – 10% Service Charge: $3.85

    – Total Bill: $49.60
