PLATINUM CHARGE CARD BENEFITS: A SUMMARY

In a previous post, I wrote in great detail about the American Express Platinum Charge card benefits and described it as a card unrivalled in terms of lifestyle perks offered.

AMEX Platinum Charge Card: starting my journey

That post was informative, but very lengthy. So here’s the quick and dirty point-form summary of all the card’s benefits.

BENEFITS: FOOD AND DRINK

1) Extensive Dining Vouchers

Upon annual fee Amex Platinum Charge Card holders would receive the following vouchers, also on an annual basis.

  • $200 worth of dining vouchers at St. Regis Singapore
  • 50% off 8-10 Adults dining at either Asian Market Cafe (Fairmont), Clove (Swissotel the Stamford), or Ellenborough Market Cafe (Swissotel Merchant Court)
  • Complimentary cake or bottle of wine at participating restaurants at Fairmont, Swissotel the Stamford, or Swissotel Merchant Court (x2 vouchers)
  • 50% off on high tea buffet for 2-6 persons at Marriott Cafe (Monday to Friday)
  • $50 off at participating restaurants at Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel (with minimum spend $100)
  • Complimentary bottle of house wine with 4 paying adults for buffet lunch or dinner at Marriott Cafe.

2) Love Dining Benefits

Card holders get to enjoy huge discounts (Up to 50% off!) when dining in participating restaurants and hotels. Places include: St. Regis Singapore, Fairmont Singapore, Swissotel the stamford, and other distinguished dining venues.

3) Chillax! By American Express

Chillax features perks such as huge discounts or 1-for-1 Drinks – And yes, I’m talking about alcohol here.

TRAVEL BENEFITS: HOTELS / FLIGHT

1) Complimentary Night at St. Regis or W Singapore Sentosa Cove

My family and I have gone on a staycation at St. Regis Singapore, and it’s honestly the best staycation I’ve had in Singapore to date. Read more about our experience here.

5) Fine Hotels and Resorts (FHR)

Booking at participating hotels comes with these benefits:

  • Complimentary breakfast for two daily
  • Room upgrades at check-in, subject to availability
  • 12pm check-in, subject to availability
  • 4pm late check-out – this is promised
  • Hotel credits – USD 100, for use during stay at either spa or dining.
  • Bonus: FHR benefits can be combined with benefits of hotel loyalty programmes.

6) IAP: International Airline Programme

Special/Discounted airfares on Business and First class flights. Participating airlines include: Singapore Airlines, American Airlines, Japan Airlines, British Airways, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Emirates.

7) $800 worth of Travel Credits

  • $400 Air Travel Credits – Can be used on IAP (International Airline Programme) rates
  • $400 Lodging Credits – cannot be combined with FHR Benefits. Bookings can be made either on the Amex Travel website or by calling the Platinum/Travel concierge.

8) Unlimited visits to Airport Lounge

For both cardholder and one guest.

Amex Platinum Charge card holders receive a complimentary unlimited Priority Pass membership – for both the principal card holder and ONE supplmentary card holder.

Lounge programs and partners include:

  • The Centurion Lounge
  • International American Express Lounges
  • Priority Pass
  • Delta SkyClub
  • Plaza Premium Airport Lounge

OTHER LIFESTYLE BENEFITS

1) Spa Vouchers and Discounts

Adeva Spa

  • One voucher for complimentary triple de-stress massage, and
  • 25% off for other a la carte services

The Ultimate

  • One voucher for complimentary facial (hyaluronic firming face spa)
  • 50% off other a la carte services

Spa Rael

  • One voucher for complimentary facial (Collagen face spa)
  • 30% off other a la carte services

2) Exclusive Club Access

Tower Club

  • $100 voucher for dining at Tower Club
  • Complimentary Gym Access to Tower Club
  • Complimentary usage of Tower Club meeting room

Nook by Platinum

  • One complimentary drink for member
  • 50% off other a la carte services
  • Access an exclusive food menu designed by three Michelin-starred Chef Alvin Leung, along with a newly curated list of Robert Parker rated wines at attractive prices by Park 90.

3) Fee Wavier of other Amex credit cards

Platinum charge card holders do NOT have to pay the annual fees of other American Express cards that they own.

Personally, I also hold the American Express Platinum Reserve card (not to be confused with the Platinum Charge card), and the Krisflyer Ascend Credit card – and both annual fees of $535 and $337.05 respectively are waived.

The Platinum Reserve card is worth keeping for one reason – it , comes with a complimentary 3D2N stay at a participating Fraser property. With no annual fee payment required, this complimentary stay is pretty much a sweet add-on to my other American Express benefits.
