Changes from 1st Jan 2021

The title of this post pretty much says it all, doesn’t it?

In some rather heartbreaking news recent updates to Love Dining, my first post of 2021 announces that Burlamacco Ristorante and TWG Tea Boutique and Salon will exit the love dining programme.

The irony is real – in fact the LAST post I wrote in 2020 featured a stellar review of my second visit to Burlamacco Ristorante.

Burlamacco Ristorante review: our second visit

To say that I feel some combo of sadness + nostalgia is an understatement; coincidentally, it also happens that my FIRST review of this Italian restaurant was one of the earliest posts on this blog!

Love Dining

I’ve raved about the Love Dining programme on this blog endlessly. Tepeatedly, I’vr mentioned ad nauseam that the key benefit is dining at huge discounts, up to 50% off. Regular readers know that I’ve compiled the restaurant dining guide and the hotel dining guide. It’s one of the best perks that come with a number of participating American Express credit cards, of which my favourite is the Amex Platinum Charge Card.

To date, in my own personal experience, most places in the Love Dining programme have either wowed me over or exceeded expectations. It’s one of the reasons why I’ve loved this programme so much – thanks to Love Dining, my family has found new wonderful places to dine that we may otherwise have never known.

Looking ahead

Due to COVID-19, it’s no wonder that several restaurants have taken a hit. In fact, in my previous update to the Love Dining programme, TWG already dropped Love Dining benefits at its outlets in Orchard Road, Charlem Thai at Capitol Kempinski ceased operations, and FYR announced that there would be no benefits on Fridays.

However, I would not despair – historically, new restaurants in the past have been added to Love Dining, and some places even make comebacks. For example, dining establishments in Conrad Centennial exited Love Dining in July 2019, but later returned in August 2020

As such, the programme is constantly evolving. I believe that when times improve, there will also be good news to look forward to. Nevertheless, for future updates to Love Dining, I’ll do my level best to provide all information on any changes, both good and bad.
