Our first stop was the lobby. Grand but slightly old-fashioned – one can’t help but feel the luxe with a touch of vintage. Yet it’s not without character – a giant-version of Conrad’s signature teddy bear greeted us right at the entrace – a real hit among guests with young children.

I own the American Express Platinum Charge card – and one of the best perks is Elite status in various hotel programmes. Card holders do get Hilton Honors Gold Status, and thanks to this status, I was upgraded from the Grand Deluxe King room to a Premium room. This is one of the reasons why I love the Hilton Honors rewards programme – for Gold and Diamond members, they get complimentary room upgrades (subject to availability) and breakfast, which really makes one feel valued as an elite member.

By Singapore’s standards, the room was fairly spacious – in this country, few homes can squeeze a king-sized beds in tiny bedrooms, so having a bed this large was a welcomed difference.
Furniture was ergonomically designed, and complemented the room nicely.
A ‘Happy anniversary’ congratulatory pile of chocolates, a rose bouquet, and the usual welcome gift of boxed chocolates.
The Conrad bear is the hotel’s signature giveaway item – every Conrad has a stuffed animal equivalent for hotel-staying guests to bring home, and some actually collect these little guys.
Roses however, were specially ordered. For special occasions (e.g. Birthdays, Wedding Anniversary Staycation), one can request for additional treats to be prepared. Possibilities and prices are shown in Singapore dollars:
- 6 stalks of roses – $60
- 12 stalks of roses – $80
- 18 stalks of roses – $120
- bottle of champagne – $148
- house red/white wine – $88
Another treat: the views from the room were just plan gorgeous. With the Singapore river skyline in the backdrop (where Fullerton hotel resides), both the day and night view had its own charm.
Bathroom
Tiled with marble and graced by a large bath tub, with a separate shower area, this was truly the epitome of luxury.
Bath amenities provided were from Shanghai Tang.
The Conrad rubber duck. Adults love them as much as the kids do – and it’s their signature bath toy that hotel guests can later take home.
Now, here is where Conrad really stands out as being child-friendly.
Upon request, the hotel can provide child-sized amenities – check out the mini bathrobe and cute little slippers.
My two-year-old loved that she could have the same style of bathroom and slippers as Mom and Dad. While it was slightly oversized and rather long on her – it was perfect on other kids 4-7 years years old.
Executive Lounge
As part of my room upgrade, the staff gave us access to the Lounge by the pool on the 4th floor.
The conrad centennial has two lounges – one at the 4th and another at the 31st floor. The 31st floor lounge has a more executive business feel and children under the age of 12 are not allowed in. Unfortunately my room category didn’t afford us access to the 31st floor lounge; it’s reserved mainly for those in the Executive Rooms and Suites category.
The 4th floor lounge is more family-friendly and we saw lots of families with young children there.
This post will focus on reviewing the Lounge on level 4 by the pool. For more extensive information on the Lounge at Level 31, check out my other review of the Conrad Centennial suite here.
The lounge provided tea between 3pm to 5pm, a simple spread of sandwiches, fruit, salads and scones.
And tapas as well as drinks from 6pm to 8pm.
Breakfast here was an option as well.

Breakfast at Oscar’s
On one of the mornings, for variety’s sake, we decided to have our breakfast at Oscar’s instead of the Executive lounge. Instantly we were blown away by the huge variety of food – from the juice bar to the porridge area to the gluten free section – there was something for every person in the house.
While the breakfast has a live egg station where a chef literally prepares your egg any way you like, one open secret is an item not on the menu – they also do eggs benedict with hollandaise sauce upon request.
If juice isn’t your thing – there is the whole repetoire of coffees/teas that is typical of any 5-star hotel breakfast – cappucino, cafe lattes, espressos – can be ordered through the waitressing staff. Pair it up with dessert, kaya toast, or even ice-cream (try the Gula Melaka, or the Passionfruit and Mango!) for the perfect combo.
A note on Oscar’s – they also do an amazing lunch or diner International a la carte buffet. I highly recommend trying it out if you’re in the area or if you’re here for staycation – it’s really good worth a try.
Pool and Gym
No hotel staycation is ever complete without a pool visit. At Conrad centennial Singapore, the pool was not very large; however what more than made up for its size was the hospitality of the staff – who brought everyone glasses of iced water – AND replenished them regularly. I was so impressed; the Conrad centennial is really known for their excellent service and here is where it really excels – where staff go the extra mile to make guests’ feel welcomed and at home.
And who can resist the giant rubber duck at the pool?
Located right next to the pool, the gym was rather well-stocked with weights and exercise equipment. A resting area nearby gave some respite to those who need a break, and the locker rooms are shared by both pool and gym users.
Conclusion and Hilton Honors points earned
Pros: An extremely pleasant stay, high service standards, amazing executive lounge, and a room with one of the most comfortable beds we’ve come across in hotels. Overall, hospitality was great – the staff really couldn’t do enough for you. Plus, the hotel is well-decorated with orchids – you literally see them EVERYWHERE from the dining table to being the bathroom sink decoration.
Cons: While there is an on-site spa, there is no sauna or steam room for guests – and this, may be a deal breaker for some.
