Centennial Suite Room

This post features a hotel review: Conrad Singapore – Centennial King Suite.

A few months ago, the hubby, child and myself stayed at the Conrad Centennial Singapore  (Premium King) for our wedding anniversary. Impressed, we returned for another staycation over the Chinese New Year period.

This time, thanks to promotions from American Express for both Hilton Hotels and Conrad/Waldorf Astoria, we decided to splurge on the Centennial King Suite.

~ Living Area and Bedroom

At 63 sq.m./680 sq. ft – the Centennial Suite has a living room area separated from the bedroom.

As a Hilton Honors gold member, one of the perks given are welcome amenities – usually a bowl of fruit. This time, the staff also gifted us a box of chocolates – much to the delight of our two-year old child.

Coffee-making facilities. These days, a nepresso machine is practically considered a necessity in high-end hotels, and Conrad certainly lives up to those standards.

My favourite place undoubtedly, is the bedroom.

And the massive closet space.

Generous storage areas are always welcomed – especially when travelling with a small child.

Loved the little hook on the wall that lets us hang those extra clothes.

Bathrobes, bedroom slippers and a safe rested in an ergonomically designed space.

Bonus for parents – the Conrad centennial does provide child-sized bathrobes and slippers too. Just call housekeeping, and the staff will deliver it to you.

The view from our room wasn’t that great – and we were placed on a low floor. It didn’t matter to us, but if it’s a dealbreaker, do try and contact the hotel beforehand to request for better views/high floors.

Now, Conrad hotels usually give away some kind of stuffed animal for guests to take home after their stay. Over chinese new year, the usual conrad bear was dressed in traditional red chinese wear.

~ Suite Bathroom

The spacious marble bathroom includes a double vanity sink, large bathtub and separate shower stall with rain shower.

Bath amenities were from Shanghai Tang.

Upon request from housekeeping – baby amenities can be delivered to parents with small children.

Another trademark of the Conrad hotel – rubber bath animal toys. Entertaining for both adults and kids, guests can also take these home after the stay.

Executive Lounge

Conrad Centennial Singapore actually has two Executive Lounges – one on the top floor on Level 31 (where children under 12 years of age aren’t allowed, more formal), and another one by the pool on Level 4 (kids allowed, more family-friendly).

Hilton Diamond guests, Hilton Gold members (If upgraded to Executive rooms and above), and Suite guests enjoy the following Executive benefits:

I have blogged extensively about the Level 4 lounge by the pool in this other post.

Here, the focus will be on the experience at Level 31.

Entrance to Executive Lounge on Level 31

Spacious, with lots of natural light streaming in, this place is hugely popular and gets crowded around mealtimes.

The views are also one of the best you can find in a Hotel lounge in Singapore.

One just can’t get enough of admiring the Singapore skyline…

What makes this Executive Lounge even more special – is the smaller rooms/partitions, where business groups or the occasional couples gather.

In the evenings, soft lighting combines with views overlooking the illumination of the Marina Bay area. It really takes up the intimate feels a whole notch.

~ Teatime at the Lounge

In terms of food provided during breakfast, tea, or dinner-time – the items are identical regardless of whether one dines at the Level 4 or the Level 31 Lounge.

An assortment of scones (plain and orange) and sandwiches were up for grabs.

Everything was laid out to maximize the space and flow of people – you could tell that a lot of thought went into the interior design.

Typical for most executive lounges of the Hilton/Conrad chain – fruits and mini tea cakes are a teatime staple.

Yums.

Overall tea was light and enjoyable.

Of course, the unlimited amount of coffee and tea does make it easy to get a caffeine fix.

~ Dinner at the Lounge

In the evenings, dinner at the lounge features a larger spread with more savory dishes.

The dishes are actually slightly different each day – for our stay, there was tacos on the first evening, and chicken with pies on the second. So guests who dine on consecutive days do have different varieties of food to look forward to.

There was even Kueh Pie Tee (local Peranakan dish – thin and crispy pastry tart shell filled with a spicy, sweet mixture of thinly sliced vegetables and prawns)

Cheese varieties, deli meats, and sliced vegetable with dips.

Bread and Butter

The evenings’ highlights is the free-flow alcohol (red wine, white whine, champagne, among other liquors) and cocktails.

Intrigued, I requested for a ‘Sea Breeze’ – just the right amount of fruitiness and alcohol.

Which went well with the filling pasta salads and small bites.

The best part? The night views were absolutely to die for.

Overall Stay

If you are a sucker for Executive Lounge benefits, it’s totally worth staying in an Executive Room or Suite just for that (if you are not a Hilton elite member).

Even without the Lounge, however – the stay is an amazing one. Similar to my previous staycation here – the staff were friendly, the rooms comfortable, and the hotel just truly gives you a relaxing and enjoyable time.

Additionally, while we didn’t do it this time – I would recommend trying out the International a la carte buffet at Oscar’s – there is great variety, and there’s definitely something for everyone to try.

In this stay, over the Chinese New Year period, efforts were also made to decorate the place for the festive season.

Even the Conrad Bear in the lobby was all dressed up.

American Express Discount, Hilton Honors

This time, thanks to promotions from American Express for both Hilton Hotels and Conrad/Waldorf Astoria, we received huge discounts on the hotel stays.

For the Hilton hotel discount – Spend $300, get $75 back (up to three times)

For the Conrad/Waldorf Astoria discount – Spend $500, get $100 back (one off)

However, as both promotions were given to my American Express Krisflyer Ascend card – and because Conrad Centennial Singapore is considered a qualifying hotel for both – i actually used BOTH promotions at the SAME TIME.

This means, if i were to spend $500 – i would qualify for both and receive $75 + $100 = $175

And, If I were to spend $600, I would receive $75 x 2 = $150, plus another $100 = $250

It was a pretty sweet deal – which was mainly why we decided to go for the suite (and get a bigger discount) instead of a regular room.
