Deauville Tote by Chanel

The last time I mentioned about the Chanel Deauville Tote, I gushed about its awesomeness as a baby bag.

I’ve always loved Chanel bags – before my children were born, I gravitated towards smaller bags such as the classic wallet on chain (WOC) and the flap bag, of which I own a class medium flap in pink, and a seasonal Chevron Flap.

The Chanel Deauville tote came into my life after my first child was born, and I bought the ‘smaller’ version – though it’s quite large in reality, at a good size of 13.4″ x 10″ x 5.9″ or 34cm x 25cm x 15cm.

In fact, I loved the Chanel Deauville Tote so much, that following the birth of my second child, I got ANOTHER Deauville Tote, but one size up.

Holds everything that I need for TWO kids – spare clothes, diapers, milk, and snacks. Plus, fits beautifully on a stroller.

Preferred Deauville Tote size?

But now that I have TWO Deauville totes – I frequently get asked this series of questions:

QUERY: Which bag do you prefer? The large or small?

ANSWER: Depends on situation. These days, if i’m out and ALONE with both kids, I tend to default to the larger one.

QUERY: Is there a situation that you would prefer the smaller one?

ANSWER: Yes! If I had to choose a weekender bag for staycation – where my husband is present and able to help with the kids, and where it’s easy to retreat to the hotel room to get our stuff even if we are out… my go-to would be the smaller version.

In my previous staycation at Conrad Centennial Singapore (read reviews of the Centennial Suite here!) – I brought this bag along and it proved more than useful. Resting comfortably on the shoulder, it accompanied me for shopping in the nearby vicinity and was easy to transition in and out of hotel with it.

Ultimately, it comes down more to personal preference than anything else. Baiscally, a tote is the perfect companion for those casual by-the-pool moments. But if it’s too large, the size CAN get in the way.

I mean, the blue stripes just adds to the summery feel, doesn’t it?

On holiday, I do enjoy a good old useful tote – but it so happens that a small one would suffice. The Chanel Deauville, while casual in appearance, didn’t look too out of place either when I brought it to the Executive Lounge.

While trivial, I also generally enjoys how it looks in the hotel room itself – relaxed and complimenting the easy weekend mood.

So, dear readers – do you like the Chanel Deauville tote? Or do you prefer other similar bags? (I know the Louis Vuitton Neverfull and the Hermes Garden Party are popular options as well) Let me know what you think in the comments, I’d love to hear from you!
