ENTIRE BAG COLLECTION

This is the very first post on my bag collection. I decided to list out all bags in my possession as of August 2020. They are organized by type (Totes, Shoulder Bags, Top Handles, Mini Bags). Within each type, they are listed by Designer label, in alphabetical order.

Note: If you love pictures or random comments about bags (especially on Chanel and Hermes) – do consider following me on Instagram @Happyhighlifeblog – i do more bag-related posts on that platform.

LARGE BAGS

~ TOTES

Tote bags tend to be idiot-proof bags: simple easy caryalls that are great for just throwing anything in. They also are commonly used as baby bags or as a hand carry for travel.

1) Chanel – Deauville Tote

From the Chanel Métiers d’Art (pre-fall) 2018 Collection.

2) Hermes – Garden Party Tote

Colour: Bougainvillea. I have the larger version in Size 36, but Hermes carries a smaller one in Size 30 too.

I have commented that the Garden Party is awesome for work, BUT awful for play.

3) Louis Vuitton – Neverfull

I have this in the MM size (middle one) – the most popular size of all the Neverfull sizes. Louis Vuitton does carry a larger version in the GM, and a smaller version in the PM.

Check out the link above for my detailed review – in that review, I actually describe the LV Neverfull as a useful travel bag, and I also compare it with the Chanel Deauville tote.

MEDIUM SIZED BAGS

~ TOP HANDLES

In short, these are medium-sized bags with a handle. They can be carried either handheld, or on the crook of the arm.

1) Chanel – Coco Handle (Medium)

In black caviar leather and gold hardware.

Coco Handle Medium – I love dressing up my top handle bags. Here’s the bag decorated with a Twilly from Hermes

2) Hermes – Birkin 30

In Rose Extreme, epsom leather, and palladium hardware. My dream combination for a Birkin.

I’ve told my story of how i acquired a Birkin from my local boutique in this post – read more about it here.

4) Louis Vuitton – Cluny

Louis Vuitton considers this bag a BB size (i.e. mini), but it’s more of a medium-sized bag than a mini one.

LV Cluny BB – while technically considered a ‘top handle’, it comes with a shoulder strap and easily doubles up as a shoulder bag

 ~ SHOULDER BAGS

These are bags that can be carried on the shoulder – either on one side, or as a crossbody.

1) Chanel – Large Quilted Chevron Flap Bag.

Unlike my Coco handles that are made with Caviar leather (both the Medium and Small/Mini), this bag is made with a softer calfskin. This is a seasonal piece from the 2017 Spring Summer Collection. It’s one of my go-to bags and I love it to bits.

2) Chanel – Classic Flap

Medium sized, in coral pink, with champagne gold hardware. From the 2016 Cruise (Cuba) collection.

This isactually my very first bag from Chanel – bought for myself as a pregnancy gift when I was pregnant with my first child. So she is very special!

Chanel Classic Flap – once a classic, always a classic.

3) Mulberry – Lily

I’m a sucker in the sense that I have this bag in TWO colours. When I first started getting into luxury bags, Mulberry was the very first brand I started buying from.

Mulberry Lily: Identical bag in two colours

Unfortunately, my love for Mulberry did not last long. The creative director at Mulberry changed some years ago – so the bags that I used to love, such as the hugely popular Alexa and Willow, are no longer in regular production.

It was then that I started exploring other brands (such as Chanel and Hermes), and gradually, my taste in bags changed over time. Having my first child also modified my lifestyle; in the past I only used medium sized bags. But post-childbirth, I expanded my bag collection to accomodate (i) large tote bags that can carry baby stuff, or (ii) mini bags that allowed me to be hands free so I can easily chase after a small kid.

SMALL AND MINI BAGS

These tend to be my favourite bags. For one, I’m only 154cm tall (A little over 5 feet!) so mini bags tend to suit my height and stature the best.

Apart from being minimalist, I am able to carry all these minibags either on the shoulder and/or crossbody, so these easily allow me to be hands free too.

1) Chanel – Mini Coco Handle

This is the latest addition to my collection – purchased only in July 2020.

Chanel Mini Chevron – from the Chanel Fall/Winter Métiers d’Art Collection

Prior to this, I had the medium-sized coco handle in the black classic quilted pattern. When I saw this mini one, in dark purple (almost a black), my brain stopped thinking and this baby came home with me. Measuring only 14cm by 24cm by 10cm, she is the cutest and most adorable little bag.

2) Chanel – WOC

Wallet on Chain – in black caviar and silver hardware.

3) Dior – Lady Dior Mini

In pearl (or pearlescent) pink, with champagne gold hardware.

4) Saint Laurent – Toy Lou Lou

In Navy Velvet.

SIDE NOTE ON BAG INSERTS

I do love bag organizers by the way, they aren’t just for organizing. Bag inserts really do help to (i) protect the shape of the bag, and (ii) keep the interior clean in case of stains/spills.

Samorga inserts galore

I’ve also mentioned this in my story of getting a Birkin post – but anyways, For bag inserts – I’ve had people ask “Should I buy from Samorga or Zoomoni or _________” (insert other famous brand from Korea/elsewhere). And my answer would be, it depends.

I do love Samorga’s bag inserts, but they ARE very pricey – think in the price range of USD 50-90 for most of their items. The only justification I can think for the price is that Samorga makes the inserts to fit the inside of a SPECIFIC bag to the EXACT size. Meaning: it is litearlly CUSTOMIZED for ONE type of bag. It is NOT a GENERAL bag insert to be used for multiple bags.

There are cheaper alternatives available – especially if you’ve got multiple bags and wish to use the same inserts in all bags, I would recommend a standard bag organizer. Depending on which part of the world you’re from, there are plenty of options on Amazon, Ebay, Shopee, and other online shopping channels.

MORE ON MY BAG COLLECTION

But wait – “Apart from these bags listed, aren’t there other bags in your collection?” – a close friend of mine asked. After all, she pointed out that she’s seen other bags in my home that are missing here. I have also written about another bag not in this list – the Mulberry Bayswater in Pale Slate.

My response to that was, I had either

(i) Sold the bag (So, the Mulberry Bayswater no longer exists in my bag collection)

OR

(ii) Put the bags I am not currently using up for rental services.

Ever since having a child, I stopped using several medium sized bags. Where I live in Singapore, there is a company called Style Theory that can take your bags, put them out for rental, and allows bag owners to earn some passive income on the bags.

Yes, there may be some risks involved (e.g. user damaging your bag). Style Theory states in their terms and conditions that renters will compensate bag owners for damaged, so I only rented out bags that I am able to accept it if the bag got damaged. To me, despite the risks – it’s a great way to earn a bit of cash from bags that I either fell out of love with, or no longer use now (but might want to use in the future).

Overall, the bag collection here lists all the bags that I have in my home and possession that I am able to use at any point. I am happy and grateful to enjoy such a lovely collection, and I hope I can pass these on to my daughter someday (if she wants them).
