Astor Bar Review
I’m back at the St. Regis Singapore. But this time, it’s at Astor Bar.
It was one of those nights after a long, stressful day at work, followed by an even longer and more stressful evening with two small children at home.
In desperation and in need of a late night drink and snack, I called a friend and we headed out to unwind.
Astor Bar, here we come.
Hotel Entrance to Astor Bar
In the day, this place looks more like a lounge, and the plush seating gives off comfortable inviting vibes.
Very Lounge-y
At night, Astor Bar transforms into a romantic, dimly-lit haven, completed with live music and friendly bartenders.
Ta-dah~
St. Regis Singapore
My friends and avid readers know this – St. Regis is one of my favourite go-to places to eat, relax, and soak in the beautiful atmosphere there.
I’ve blogged so much about St. Regis, and have written reviews on:
- Brasserie Les Saveurs (Epicurean Set Lunch)
- Brasserie Les Saveurs (Á la carte dinner)
- Brasserie Les Saveurs (Afternoon Tea)
- Brasserie Les Saveurs (Sunday Brunch)
- La Brezza (sadly not currently in operation)
- Yan Ting (Chinese fine Dining)
- Staycation – Executive Deluxe King Room
- Staycation – Grand Deluxe King Room, with special Remede Spa feature
Not surprising, since my Amex Platinum Charge card and its American Express Love Dining benefits allows me and one other diner to enjoy eating in at up to 50% off.
Amex Love Dining
With Amex Love Dining, for my friend and I, the deal was that a minimum of two FOOD items for 50% off.

Food, Drinks, Live Music
When my friend and I first sat down, the server came all smiles and warm greetings, and promptly brought us complimentary snacks,
Warning: can be addictive
Craving for a drink, I ordered the Duke of Jazz.
Duke of Jazz
This was a mix of light rum, tequila, pineapple, honey, and lemon. Sweet and citriusy. Yum. I requested for a bit of additional lemon, and the bartender happily complied.
Plus, the foam was really lovely
And then, our food started to arrive.
Prawn Frites
First was some Prawn Frites served with wasabi mayonnaise.
Hot and crispy, it went down with a good solid crunch. Totally worth the slight greasiness.
We silently wished for a larger serving
We also ordered a couple of sandwiches. At this point, our meal was more of an “actual supper” as opposed to “light bar snacks”.
Sandwiches and Fries for two
Plus, the thick-cut fries were hot and crispy – unhealthy and oily, but it was exactly what we needed at that time.
For the sandwiches, we had first ordered the Wagyu Beef Burger Duo.
Wagyu Beef Burger Duo
This was a couple of beef sliders, filled with a wagyu beef patty, and topped with cheddar cheese, onion compote, tomato, and lettuce. Absolutely juicy and perfect after a stressful day.
Sinfully rich and juicy
We had also ordered the Ciabatta and Parma Ham sandwich.
Ciabatta and Parma Ham Sandwich
This was a delightful mix of black olive tapenade, tomato, basil, and a generously thick slice of brie cheese. Salty and savoury in all the right ways.
Love the very thick slice of cheese there
I think my friend and I were literally hungry ghosts that night. Still feeling peckish, we ordered an additional Butternut Hummus.
Butternut Hummus
The roasted butternut hummus was subtly flavoured with cumin, and topped with green zucchini. A wonderful creamy dip that was absolutely comforting when taken together with warm pita breads.
(If it helps, this dish is also vegan and gluten free).
At this point, I suspect that our servers were amused by the two very hungry ladies practically binge and stress eating, and we were offered a complimentary drink (please don’t ask me how we got it or whether it is offered to everyone – we did not request for this at all, so i’d like to think that the servers were just being really nice that day).
Complimentary Digestif
We were given a Digestif each – a small drink served following a meal, just to give the food a defined and delicious note to finish off. I’m not fully sure what it is – the server mentioned it was a barrel-aged spirit of some sort.
Live Performance
For the rest of the evening, the Live Performance took over. An atmosphere of very soulful, very heart-soothing mix of ballads, popular classics, and randomly-requested songs burst form, all delivered by two extremely talented musicians.
We really couldn’t have asked for more.
