Muberry Mini Alexa: a backstory
About 10 years ago, when I first started my luxury journey, I bought my very first designer bag: the Mulberry Alexa in Berry.
Throwback to the days of bad smartphone photo quality
It was used daily until smithereens.
The Mulberry Alexa was launched in 2010 and discontinued in 2016 – and this was despite its suffering from overpopularity on a global scale.
I was devastated at the Alexa’s demise, especially when my first Alexa became old, incredibly worn, and then while moving homes in 2018, an unfortunate mould incident took over and forced the bag into retirement.
There were other Mulberry bags along the way, such as the Bayswater or Mulberry Lily, but still part of me wished for an Alexa.
Sometimes, wishes really do come true. When Mulberry announced the relaunch of the Alexa in 2020 or 2021, I knew it – i HAD to have it again.
Except this time, I got the mini version.
Mulberry Mini Alexa: structure
The Mulberry Mini Alexa measures 17cm x 22cm x 10cm, and is typically made out of heavy bovine leather.
The bag comes in a variety of colours. Mine is in the classic chestnut.

What fits in the Mulberry Mini Alexa
On first glance, it doesn’t look like there is THAT much space. However, the trapezoidal shape does mean that the bag is narrower at the top and broader at the base.
The space inside
x1 Hermes long Bearn wallet, x1 key holder, x2 card holders, x1 eyeshadow/compact, x1 lipstick, and x1 mini hand sanitizer.

Love the pop of Blue Ostrich
Fits right in
And there’s still plenty of room
Adding in another cardholder and a key holder
They would roll about in there, but it doesn’t bother me
Adding more items = adding to the digging. Lol.
Not filled to the brim. And that’s okay.

For reference, I am super short at 154cm tall, or a little over 5 feet.

Overall Pros and Cons
Pros of the Muberry Mini Alexa
- The strap’s length is adjustable. Honestly. more brands should do this – it just makes sense.
- The leather does get softer with use over time. It adds to the beauty of the leather and generally ages very well.
- Has a wide variety of colours and leathers/materials – I’ve seen it multicoloured, and made in nappa leather, or other tactile leather, and even in fabric finishings.
- Versatility. So easy to use.
- This might just be me – but the satchel has a very ‘proper casual’ sort of look. I especially love using this bag to ‘dress down’ – you know how sometimes you have a nice dress but don’t want to look too formal?

Shoulder Bag
- Is the bag considered a ‘classic’ item? It’s hard to say. The LOOK of it may be classy, but given that Mulberry has launched, discontinued, and relaunched it again years later, the Alexa’s future is not as certain compared to typical ‘classic’ bags of luxury houses.
- Extremely poor resale value. Don’t expect to get a lot of money back on this one in the second hand market. Many resellers may not even accept Mulberry bags for sale.
- Personally, with use, the bag WILL show some wear (at least it does so more easily than my chanel, dior, or LV bags). As the leather smoothens with use, the corners are the first to appear rubbed, and the handle will reveal signs of usage.
Hope this helps anyone who’s thinking of getting the bag.
