Louis Vuitton Cluny BB: backstory
I confess, Social Media made me buy this bag. While I knew of the Cluny’s existence since forever, I never paid special attention to it. Until I saw a review of it on another blogger’s website.

Classic Louis Vuitton Monogram Print
So why choose the monogram over the Rose Ballerine pink?
I’m not sure if I can explain this well – pink is indeed one of my favourite colours, and this is evident in my bag collection. I own: a Birkin in Rose Extreme, a Constance in Rose Confetti, TWO pink Lady Diors, and a pink Chanel classic flap, among other things.
With age, however, in the last few years, I’ve learnt to appreciate the beauty of neutrals (specifically: browns). Especially their subtlety and how they go so well with other outfits. Included in my collection are the Hermes Kelly and Picotin, both in classic Hermes gold, the Mulberry Mini Alexa, and a Saint Laurent Mini Lou Camera Bag, just to name a few.
In line with that, I’ve also come to appreciate the neutral LV Monogram print. Perhaps subconsciously, I wished for a bag in LV Monogram, and it so happens that the Cluny BB ticked all the right boxes.
Louis Vuitton Cluny BB: structure
The bag measures 28cm x 20cm x 10cm, and Louis Vuitton makes them in either canvas or epi leather.
Comes with a pink / purple leather strap
Though it is possible to get a monogram canvas strap separately, I don’t quite recommend it – the coloured leather strap is REALLY soft and comfortable.

What fits in the LV Cluny BB
Despite the bag officially labelled as a ‘BB’ sized bag (‘BB’ usually referring to small / mini bags), the Cluny BB feels more medium-sized than small.
(The naming is really confusing – there is a Cluny Mini which is smaller, and a Cluny MM which technically means ‘medium’ but size-wise is pretty large).
What fits in the Louis Vuitton Cluny BB

Here, I pair the bag with a distinctively polka-dotted top. Notice how the bag doesn’t actually overshadow the clothes.

Overall Pros and Cons
Pros of the Louis Vuitton Cluny BB
- The strap, being full leather, is extremely comfortable. Among all the shoulder / crossbody bags I’ve had, the Cluny BB’s strap, comfort-wise, is ranked #1.
- Louis Vuitton’s canvas is (in my experience at least) virtually indestructible. It is so hardy, so resistant to wear and tear, and can take a huge amount of abuse.
- Neutral monogram: easy to match with most wardrobe items.
- The zipped compartment is VERY useful. It’s large enough to fit those larger coupons / vouchers, is great for holding cinema/museum tickets, or even small phone / wallet / coin purse. It’s also zipped, which makes it real secure.
- It’s great when you need a functional, fuss-free, medium-sized, grab-and-go bag that can hold a substantial amount. For the days when your stuff can’t fit in a mini bag but a tote is too oversized.
Such as when I took this on a staycation at the St. Regis Singapore
- Not quite a con – more of a limitation. The Louis Vuitton monogram canvas feels very casual; while it can easily match an entire wardrobe, it’s not the most suitable for black-tie elegant events or fancy dinners (though you COULD, really, and no one would bat an eyelid – it just doesn’t fully fit the occasion). Versatility has its limitations.
- Extremely poor resale value.
- Patina. The handle will likely darken over time, giving away signs of age. This doesn’t actually bother me, but among people I know who dislike LV monogram canvas, the patina finishing is a real pain point for them.
Patina handle – new at the time of photo-taking, but may darken over time
Have a great day everyone~
