St. Regis: LaBrezza

LaBrezza is an Italian dining establishment at St. Regis hotel, Singapore.

I love dining at the St. Regis for a variety of reasons – great food, lovely atmosphere, awesome staff, and lots of opportunities for discounted rates. (To find out more about my previous dining experience at Brasserie Les Saveurs – French dining, buffet – at 50% off, click here)

Not to mention, the hotel in itself is gorgeous. I especially love this place during Christmas. The decoration at this time of the year just gives that extra homey feel.

At LaBrezza, on Friday evenings, the restaurant has a Barbeque Buffet Dinner.

Given that I possess a Supper Club membership that gives 25% off, and our two-year-old gets to eat for free at most buffets – my family decided to spend a Friday evening here at La Brezza, after work.

We were first greeted by the christmas-themed decorations at the restaurant.

Extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar was placed on our table. I love these condiments – they go supremely well with freshly baked bread from the buffet.

I also had a glass of champagne to complement the food.

As a Supper Club member. my membership comes with five complimentary glasses of champagne. The first glass is served when you first dine after purchase of the Supper Club membership.

Of the remaining four glasses – two will be given to you when you dine during your birthday month, and two during the month of your anniversary.

If you are keen in the Supper Club membership – i have done a full post on it, and have a discounted rate for those who sign up through my referral. For more information on how to become a Supper Club member at St. Regis Singapore, please read here for more details.

Barbecue and outdoor dishes

The highlight is definitely the outdoor BBQ stand. Here, one can choose from a range of seafood and meats – Huge tiger prawns, calamari, lamb rack, beef steak, scallops. Pick whatever you fancy, and the chef grills your order over the flames.

My favourite item was the rack of lamb. When grilled to perfection, it’s slightly crispy on the outside and medium-rare soft on the inside. Juicy meat overall. Yums.

There were a variety of other meats and dishes served next to the outdoor grilling station, and all items were amazing.

Like, there was this huge salmon on display:

A whole fish carving. The salmon was fresh, oil rich, and had a hint of olives and herbs – this was a real hit with our two year old. Anyone who loves fish would love this.

And then, there was roasted pork belly:

Melt-in-your mouth softness, this pork belly was neither hard nor chewy. It was oh so very soft, and the pieces literally disintegrated in your mouth.

Other dishes that were displayed outdoors:

Barbecue Chicken Wings

Baked Vegetable Dish – Eggplant, Tomato and Cheese

Mashed Potato – hot and creamy

Baby Sausages

Honestly – i wanted to eat more of everything on display here. Especially the roasted pork belly. But, I was saving some space for oysters and desserts. 🙂

Seafood on Ice

If grilled/barbeque items isn’t your thing, the buffet table also has seafood on ice.

Crayfish, poached prawns and huge succulent oysters – what’s there not to love?

Our recommendation would be the oysters. Large, super fresh, and flavourful, they went well with each of the dressing options – tabasco sauce, thousand Island dressing, chopped onion and vinegar, and lemon. This, in our humble opinion, is easily the best place to get fresh oysters from a buffet in Singapore.

My husband loved this so much, he practically had a good dozen of them.

Cheese, Cold Cuts, Salads

For cheese lovers, a good range of premium cheeses (by Singapore’s standards, not Europe’s) graced the cheeseboard.

Nearby, fresh parma ham and other cold cuts are freshly sliced upon request.

At the antipasti station, the items were typical of a traditional Italian first course equivalent. Olives, capers, baby onions in balsamic vinegar, sundried tomato pesto, roasted capsicums and other Italian hors d’oeuvres formed the spread.

Of course, freshly baked bread was available. Bread sticks, foccacia, olive bread – all made by the hotel, was fragrant and went well with butter.

Dessert: feels like Christmas

The Christmas mood and spirit is here – evidenced by a festive theme, and the presence of snowflake-decorated Log Cakes.

Can you spot the white Yuzu Coconut log cake?

Behold, the Black Forest log cake in red

The overall spread in itself was breadthtaking. We spent quite a while just simply staring at how pretty everything was.

Honestly, it’s the little details just made the festive spirit feel even more special.

For example, candy-canes hung from Tiramisu glasses…

Panna Cotta came decorated with the cutest Santa chocolate and Stars chocolate pieces, and…

— the Bonets (alcoholic chocolate pudding) come with their own little chocolate squares of of ‘Joyeuses Fetes’ (French for Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas) – as if they are personally giving you the Season’s Greeting.

(Those alcoholic chocolate puddings were super addictive by the way – i had to stop myself after having two of them just so that I could try other desserts!)

The attention given to how the dessert was presented – it just speaks about the pride that St. Regis takes in giving that little extra special touch.

We wanted to have a bit of everything – so that was exactly what we did.

Top left to right: Milk Flan, Bonnet, Pistachio cream and cookies, Panna Cotta with berry sauce.

Bottom left to right: Cannoli set with strawberry and chocolate, Yuzu and Coconut Log cake slice

The dessert winner of the night – if we MUST pick one – would be the Tiramisu. Creamy, not-too-sweet, and layers of mascarpone cheese glide beautifully into coffee – this had us going back for extra servings despite being stuffed.

An Extra Child-Friendly Place

Overall, this place was awesome – the food was amazing, and customer service was excellent. The staff were super professional and they really couldn’t do enough for you. It wasn’t just in the speed in clearing used plates, it was the human touch they gave. Everyone was so very kind and friendly to our two-year old, and attempted to engage her in conversation and make her laugh.

As parents, we were very touched at the attempts to include and value her as a customer. For example, the staff offered my child a chocolate ice cream when we couldn’t give her the alcoholic chocolate dessert. They then brought for her crayons and colouring paper so she can be happily entertained and then the parents can eat in peace.

Child-friendliness is something that St. Regis has consistently excelled at. After the lovely meal, when we were lounging about and resting in the hotel lobby, our child accidentally fell on the floor, and started crying. It wasn’t a big deal (and it’s normal for kids to fall), but the nearby receptionist immediately rushed over to offer ice packs. She even brought us some water and gifted our child a St. Regis Teddy Bear. Instantly, the crying stopped.

Another place may have just ignored the whole incident (which is normal – most places prefer not to interfere with parents). More commonly, sometimes parents receive dirty looks when their kids unexpectedly create a commotion. But here, the family-centric treatment… and in terms of how they value their customers… it is UNRIVALED. We were touched beyond anything we have experienced in a hotel.

Would I come here again? 100% yes – just for their customer service and child-friendliness alone.
