Recently, I took it on a date with hubby at St. Regis hotel, to dine in the amazing Brasserie les saveurs. For full review of our dinner, read here.
Dior is known for making ladylike, elegant bags, the most famous being the iconic Lady Dior Classic.
The lady dior mini here is a smaller/mini version of it, and i possess it in lotus pearl pink and gold hardware. This bag is the ever classy option for fine dining, fancy events, and special dates. It gives that extra oomph and ahhh – the pearlescent pinky glow really does give a special quality to the bag.
What i especially love about this bag – is the ability to go crossbody, allowing the wearer to be 100% hands-free (My other favourite crossbodies are the Chanel wallet on chain in black caviar leather (see review here!), and the Saint Laurent YSL mini lou camera bag – read more here!). Perfect for social events when you have to shake hands with others – or, when you’re holding that exquisite, delicate glass of champagne.
Personally, crossbody bags tend to sit better with me; i do have a small child (and i love having my hands in snacks on display at a buffet table) so a bag’s usability hugely depends on whether i can use it even in the presence of my child. Hence, even though the lady dior mini does have handles, they are pretty narrow in terms of wrist space, so i almost never hold it by the handle.
I’m quite petite at 154cm (Americans – that’s a little over 5 feet), and the chain’s length, which is fixed, sits nicely below the hip area. The contents are easily within arm’s reach – just exactly where a crossbody bag should rest.
Understandably, taller ladies would tend to use this as a shoulder bag rather than a crossbody. However slinging it one-sided on a shoulder for someone just doesn’t go well at my height – i find that it hangs too low and generally isn’t very comfortable in that position.
That day, i brought the lady dior mini to a lovely hotel, and here she is, thoroughly suited for the ambience and setting.
What bags do you love bringing out for special events? Let me know, I’d love to hear what you readers think.
