This is my review of the Tower Club Set Lunch at Atlantic.

Tower Club @ Republic Plaza

Holders of the American Express Platinum Charge Card and the American Express Platinum Reserve card get complimentary access to Tower Club Singapore – a menbers-only club typically used by business people. Card holders may also bring guests / family members along with them.

Prior to visiting, all visitors require a reservation, to be made via the American Express Concierge service.

Personally, I drop by Tower Club a few times a year at least – it’s a great place to bring friends to dine in a formal setting, especially if those friends do not have access to Tower Club.

Christmas Decorations at the Entrance

My most recent visit was just earlier this mont, in December 2022, and the place was beautifully decorated for the festive season.

Located on the 62nd to 64th floors of Republic Plaza, the place boasts panoramic views of the Marina Bay area in Singapore.

I’ll never get tired of this view

There are three main dining establishments within tower club.

  • Atlantic: Western / Continental, both set meals and a la carte available
  • Ba Xian: Chinese Fine Dining, with an amazing Dim Sum menu on Saturdays
  • Straits Bar: All-day bar grub – though Afternoon High Tea is available at midday

With the Amex Platinum Charge card or Platinum Reserve Card, card holders receive an S$100 worth of Tower Club vouchers annually (I usually get mine within 6 to 8 weeks after settling the annual fees). The voucher can be used for dine-in at one of these the above three places.

Tower Club Voucher worth SGD 100 – for dining in at Atlantic, Ba Xian, and Straits Bar

(Note: Given that I possess BOTH these credit cards, I actually received TWO of these vouchers – one for each card)

While the annual fee of the Platinum Charge Card is a hefty S$1712 at the moment (and will become S$1728 in 2023 thanks to the GST increase), it is benefits such as these that supposedly make the Platinum Charge card worthwhile.

Though I must put a disclaimer: that YMMV (your mileage may vary) and a card’s usefulness boils down to whether the card holder is able to actually use those benefits.

Atlantic Restaurant

On this day in December, the husband and I decided to head over to Tower Club for the Tower Club Set Lunch at Atlantic.

Of course, complimentary bread and butter was served.

Table Setting

Menu

Here, the Tower Club Set Lunch has a three, four, or five course option. However, we’ve always found the three-course one more than sufficient.

Three Course Menu

The menu here changes up every now and then. I’ve been here a number of times, and everytime the menu looks like it’s gone through a makeover (see previous reviews here and over here).

I personally also recommend adding on some wine – for just an additional S$10 (glass) or $45 (bottle), the red or white wine pairing for that menu can be added on to the meal.

Add on S$10 for a glass of wine – husband and I ordered one to share

Tower Club Set Lunch – Appetizers

Soon, our starters arrived.

The husband ordered the Cream of Borlotti Bean with Tomatoes. On first glance – this vaguely reminded us of those canned Britist breakfast beans – but the taste here is more refined; fresher and upgraded, it carries a strong aftertaste of roasted tomatoes.

For myself, I ordered the Smoked Quail Breast.

Smoked Quail Breast

Served with Mandarin oranges, Japanese cucumber salad, capers, quail egg and orange reduction – the quail resembled one of those cured meats that you typically find at an international buffet. I think it’s the capers and citrusy sauce.

Tower Club Set Lunch – Mains

The vegetarian Main Course option of the day was the Barley Risotto.

Barley Risotto

Arranged with heirloom cauliflower, black fungus, sundried tomatoes and wild puffed rice – it felt seriously healthy and kind of fiber-intenstive.

Go for this is you love a healthy and light lunch.

That’s Black Fungus (Mu Er) on the Bottom

Myself, I was craving for fish that day, and so ordered the Baked Seabream.

Baked Seabream

Decorated with mixed bell peppers, sauteed onion, pumpkin, caviar and warm lemon dressing. Yums.

Spot the Caviar

The fish was not super tender but well-done nevertheless. Overall it was a delicious burst of flavours.

Tower Club Set Lunch – Dessert

The Tower Club set lunch ends with dessert and a choice of coffee or tea.

Raspberry Lychee Rose Cake

In my experience, there is usually a fruity or chocolately option. That day, the fruity one is the Raspberry Lychee Rose Cake.

Beautifully presented with white chocolate crispy pearls and almond crumbs – i almost wished that I could have brought the five year old daughter here to try this seriously fruity cake ensemble. Presentation-wise, it’s the most stereotypically princess-pink kind of cake.

Sweet Endings

My favourite item of the day had to be the Black Glutinous Rice Cake.

I’m sucker for Black Glutinous Rice (Pulut Hitam), so when THIS became a cake ingredient only to be served alongside Thai coconut ice cream and Gula Melaka sauce, I was sold.

And it tasted as good as it looked.

Chill and wash it all down with a tea or coffee of your pick.

Coffee or Tea comes as part of the Lunch Set. Here’s a Cappuccino.

Overall Tower Club review

I’ve been here a few times, and the quality of the Tower Club Set Lunch has been pretty much consistent.

I do like that they rotate the menu items; each visit presents different things so coming here a few times a year means that there’s something new to try each time.

A plus point for office workers / business folks: the Tower Club Set Lunch is really light DESPITE being full course meals. You definitely won’t end up going back to office / work sleepy and groggy after this (and IF you do, it isn’t because of the food).

Word to note – that there is a 10% surcharge to dine at Tower Club – and this is ON TOP of the usual 7% GST (well, 8% starting in 2023) and 10% service charge.

Important Note: this is an adults-only place. There are occassions or meals where kids above a certain aged may be allowed in, but those moments are few and far between. Before bringing in any child of any age, do check with the concierge if allowed for that day.

Prices with American Express

In this Tower Club Set Lunch (Atlantic) Review, as a holder of both the American Express Platinum Reserve card, and the Amex Platinum charge card –  I received the following dining discounts:

  • Three-Course set lunch – $58.00 each for x2 pax
  • Added on red wine: $10.00

– Subtotal: $126.00

–  10% Surcharge for Tower Club: $12.60

– 7% GST: $10.67
