This review of PAUL features content from TWO dine-ins at the Ngee Ann City outlet.

This is also my second review of PAUL – for my first review – check that out right here.

Review of PAUL: Entertainer App

Who doesn’t like dining with a discount?

It’s no secret that my family and I love eating in restaurants from the Love Dining programme – and – the Entertainer App’s 1-for-1 mains by HSBC.

I’ve written extensively about the Entertainer App as well:

Entertainer App featuring 1-for-1 mains at PAUL

Among the places I’ve been to that’s listed in the Entertainer App, PAUL is one of my favourites. I especially love the outlet at Ngee Ann City during Christmas; the festive decoration there is really gorgeous.

Dessert Counter

I’m always so amazed at how beautifully arranged the desserts are.

Array of Desserts on display at the store’s entrance

Such gorgeous tarts, eclairs, cakes, and more

Tip: the staff at PAUL will pack these items really well for takeaways. Those desserts make really gorgeous gifts: birthdays, special occassions, just because a last minute thing is needed, etc – I’ve randomly surprised people with PAUL’s desserts before, and no one’s ever been disappointed.

I’ve written about the desserts in my previous review about PAUL, and the desserts since then have not changed – they are pretty much the same as the present day.

PAUL review: Boulangerie Patisserie at Ngee Ann City

Hence, this post will focus more on the main dishes and all-day breakfast instead.

Note: this Review of Paul comprises of TWO visitations.

Review of PAUL: first visit

On one of those work from cafe work from home days, the husband and I dropped by here for a quick lunch.

He ordered the most idiot-proof thing in the world: Fish and Chips.

A simple battered fish fillet served alongside fries and tartar sauce. The ones here are well fried: the Fish crispy on the outside and hot and tender on the inside. For the fries, they look suspiciously close to those found at McDonalds, but they are more well-fried at PAUL’s.

Fish and Chips

This one is Okay, and not bad at all, however I would consider it average. There are definitely better Fish and Chips out there; for example, a slightly tastier one can be found at FYR, and there’s a REALLY good one on the menu at Crossroads Cafe (Marriott Tang Plaza Singapore).

I digress.

That day at PAUL, I had the Croque Madame.

Toasted pain de mie is stuffed with turkey ham and emmental cheese, topped with a fried egg. Accompanying it is a bed of salad and cherry tomatoes.

Croque Madame

In every sense of the world, this was a sandwich; albeit a fancy one. With the adequate amount of protein in there (egg, turkey, cheese), it’s adquately filling without being too gelat – absolutely what I needed for one of those power lunch days.

Review of PAUL: second visit

About 2-3 weeks later, I returned to PAUL again, but this time it was with a close friend.

Said friend ordered the Iced Tea of the day.

Iced Tea of the day: Strawberry

It was a late morning, and Friend was famished that day, and the all-day-breakfast options were looking pretty good.

A Breakfast Waffle – waffles with scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, crispy fried chicken, tomatoes and nacho cheese sauce – was ordered.

Rich and somewhat breakfasty. Yums.

Breakfast Waffle

That day, I had a craving for avocado. So Avocado Brioche was a no-brainer. I loved how green (and deceptively healthy) everything looked: Two poached eggs rested on toasted brioche with avocado, fresh baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, mixed greens and lemon zest.

Between the friend and I, we also ordered a side dish to share: Sausage and Potato Poutine.

Sausage and Potato Poutine

This was a bit of a heart attack on a plate: smoked chicken sausage, tater tots, fries, vegan bacom bits, and jalapeno, all topped with mayonnaise.

It was so sinfully good: deep-fried and super savoury. The tater tots were super addictive.

This is one of those things that you enjoy waaay too much while eating, and feel immense guilt after it is polished off. HAHAHA.
