Hard Rock Cafe: This review is a combination of TWO visitations with my family. It features the Hard Rock Cafe outlet at Cuscaden Road, in the Tanglin area.

Entertainer App by HSBC

Everytime my husband asks, “So, where are we eating today?” – it literally translates to, “where are we getting a discount this time?”

Usually, I go for places that participate in the American Express Love Dining programme – it’s allowed my husband and dine out with up to 50% off at several upscale hotels and restaurants.

A great alternative is the Entertainer App’s 1-for-1 deals by HSBC. With Hard Rock Cafe, the place has a sweet 1-for-1 mains deal:

Hard Rock Cafe

Located in the Tanglin area at Cuscaden road, this place was near empty when my family and I dropped by for a late lunch.

There was a lively bar counter; though it was deserted at the times we visisted, the server casually mentioned that it can get pretty crowded on some nights.

At the back of the restaurant – is the stage for late night performances.

Menu

Think: a huge range of mouth-watering International selections, which includes American classics such as the Legendary Burger, and other western selections.

Check out their full online menu menu right here.

Do note that servings here can be pretty huge – so each main dish is A LOT of food.

Child Friendly

Kids would be delighted – our four year old was given some colouring activity. Entertaining for the kid, and a kid that’s engrossed in colouring means that parents can catch a breather, haha.

Child activity and colouring sheet

Fun fact – flip over the activity sheet to reveal the very colourful child menu. (However, we didn’t order anything for the kid – the servings at Hard Rock Cafe are large enough that she could simply eat off the parents’ plates)

American Classics

Stereotypically – folks in Singapore tend to associate Western / American fare with an unhealthy diet. While there’s some truth to it, there are healthy options – such as a salad that’s larger than a burger.

The salad here is really substantial. Known as the Steak Salad, this is an 8-oz grilled steak resting on a bed on mixed greens. Tossed in a blue cheese vinaigrette and picked red onions, it’s further topped with red peppers, roma tomatoes, and crispy battered shoestring onions.

Steak Salad

At Hard Rock Cafe, one of the signature dishes is the Legendary Steak Burger.

Legendary Steak Burger

A Steak burger, topped with applewood bacon, cheddar cheese, large crispy onion ring, leaf lettuce and vine-ripened tomato. While not very obvious in the picture here, the patty was HUGE and really thick.

But if that ain’t enough, there’s an option for a DOUBLE cheeseburger – think TWO stacked steak burgers instead of one.

Double Decker Double Cheeseburger. A heart attack on a plate.

The burgers were great. While not as tender as the one at Jamie’s Italian or the Drunken Poet (both these places are on Entertainer App too!), the ones at Hard Rock Cafe are extremely flavourful and meaty. Hearty and indulgent, this is one place to come get a real good burger fix.

Gloriously thick and meaty patty

Another sinfully rich main that we tried was the Baby Back ribs. Seasoned with Hard Rock Cafe’s signature spice blend, glazed with the house-made barbecue sauce and grilled to perfection, it comes with fries, coleslaw and ranch-style beans.

Baby Back Ribs

The serving size was HUGE – honestly, unless if you’re a construction worker / rapidly growing teenager going through National Service, this dish should be a sharing platter rather an an individual’s main.

So. Much. Meat.

The barbecue flavour came out rather strongly; thick and smoky – something quite difficult to repilcate in a regular Singapore home. The meat too was tender enough to literally fall off the bone. Easy for a kid to eat too – our child loved it – so glad that I’ve got her to share the entire rack with!

Overall: Hard Rock Cafe

Obviously, Hard Rock Cafe isn’t quite your regular restaurant; the prices here are slightly higher than a mid-range restaurant, but you DO get your money’s worth as the servings are so huge. Small eaters – do consider sharing as it can be a struggle to finish everything.

Service here could be hit and miss – we did visit twice; on one occassion the server was very helpful and friendly towards my kid, but on another occassion we got someone a little more lukewarm.

Nevertheless, a worthy place to visit especially if (i) you really want A LOT of meat, and (ii) you’ve got Entertainer App discount.

Update: I have also done a SECOND review on Hard Rock Cafe – check it out at this link right here.
